Where in the world is Jeff?

Summer is always a busy time for BrownKnows Design, but this summer found me doing projects outside Minnesota for the first time since starting the business.

I started off the summer with nearly 4 weeks of working in Moorhead with MSUM's Straw Hat Players summer theatre company. It was my pleasure to design lights for all four of this summer's shows (samples below), plus this year I also designed the sets for ALL HANDS ON DECK and THE LAST FIVE YEARS.

In the midst of the Straw Hat season, because I have an awesome part-time crew to rely on even when I am out of town, BrownKnows Design was able to design and build THE MIRACULOUS JOURNEY OF EDWARD TULANE for Wise Fool Theater in Duluth.

In early July, the crew hit the road for an intense four-day installation of an exhibit that we had built back at the shop in Duluth ... We got to completely re-purpose the interior of one building at the Red River Zoo in Fargo, ND, for a brand-new children's agricultural exhibit and play space. Flip through the photos below, or go directly to my exhibits photo gallery.

After that, I was home for 1 day before driving to Illinois to do the lighting design for MAMMA MIA! at the Circa '21 dinner theater.

I've been home since then, finally enjoying some time out on the motorcycle, fixing up our used-to-be-a-tree fort in the backyard, and hitting the ground running on the second space that we are designing for the Children's Discovery Museum in Grand Rapids (see last year's Lake Life exhibit in the photo gallery).

I'm looking forward to a short break in September... Check back for pics of the place where Western theater began!
